In the 17th century French soapmakers began milling Savon de Marseille thus giving birth to French milled soap. They combined flakes of traditional Marseilles soap with essential oils and pieces of Provençal herbs then passed the mixture over a steel roller mill. The result was a uniform-colored, long-lasting, scented soap.
Today, French milled soap is known for its smooth texture, lasting fragrance and durability. It creates a creamy, rich lather while retaining the gentle yet effective cleansing properties of Savon de Marseille.
